Inspired by the beautiful horse farms throughout Ocala, in my husband’s home state of Florida, David and I were driven to create our own inspiration right here in Mocksville, NC. With the purchase of mostly wooded, rolling acreage set upon a beautifully, serene 126 acre lake in 2004, David and I had a vision and set out to create the horse farm we so often only imagined. Everything from the black, four-board fencing lining the drive and perimeter of the property to the elegant structure of the barn itself has been thoughtfully considered. Named after our youngest son, Colin, Colin Creek Farm has become a place where all that country life has to offer is beyond appreciation.
The growing interest in weddings and photography sessions at our farm has not only been welcomed, but David and I are sincerely honored with the consideration of our venue as the site for one of life’s most important and memorable occasions. It is truly heartwarming to be surrounded by all that weddings represent and are valued most – love, family, and happiness. We are so excited not only to provide a venue that will showcase that perfect country wedding – with an elegant charm, but one with endless options to capture those priceless photos that will last a lifetime!
From the beginning of construction, I have worked countless hours in the heat and cold – sanding, staining and painting at the barn – landscaping and decorating too. For those of you that know me, this comes as no surprise. For those of you that have yet to know me, I am a “do it yourself” kind, often plagued by perfectionism, and confessing a sense of pride in my accomplishments. Having said this, I share every bride’s desire for that perfect “Dream Wedding”. Whether an outside wedding in the front of the barn or a wedding at the boathouse on the lake, the idea of an elegant country wedding venue has generated a storm of ideas and created an overwhelming desire and mission to make every bride’s wedding dreams come true.
